Vacuum casting

Based on a master pattern (usually STL components), a special silicon mould is created which
can be used for duplications. 

Benefits: The elastic silicon makes it easy to remove the castings from the mould and undercuts do not pose any problems. 

Production is cost effective and quick.

A wide range of materials is available; desired properties such as hardness and ductility can be adjusted on an individual basis.

Limits:
  • Silicon mould lasts for approx. 15-50 cycles depending on the cast material
  • Maximum tool dimension approx. 1200 x 800 x 400 (mm)
  • Heat resistant up to max. 190°C depending on the material

  • Models can be complex and have thin wall thicknesses
Materials:
  • Various casting resins - (polyurethane resin or epoxy resin) from companies such as Axson are ordered as required.
