Laminating

Various layers are applied to a single-sided mould. Usually a resin combined with glass fibres or carbon fibres.

Benefits: Only a single mould is required.

Composite material; usually of low weight and with good mechanical properties thanks to the glass fibre or carbon fibre.

Large models are possible.

Limits:
  • Only one side has a high surface quality
Materials:
  • Glass fibre, carbon fibre, Duromere (epoxy resins) or thermoplastics
Areas of application:
  • Lightweight construction, e.g. aerospace
  • Sports equipment, bicycle frames, boat hulls, tennis rackets, etc.
  • Motor sports, automotive engineering, e.g. motorbike helmets, carbon components
